Introduction

The Kids Have Found The Matches

This blog is titled TheKidsHaveFoundTheMatches, or if you add spaces, The Kids Have Found The Matches.

The concept behind the title is that parents are always concerned about their children burning down the house. One obvious risk is that the children will find the matches their parents have hidden, and will begin lighting them, just for fun.

In the 20th and 21st centuries, the global risk is not from matches... obviously it is from nuclear (atomic) and thermonuclear (hydrogen) weapons. First developed through the Manhattan Project, and test-detonated in the early 1940s, nuclear weapons have (so far) only been used twice in wartime... the aerial detonations over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, resulting in well over 100,000 deaths, while dramatically shortening World War II and potentially saving between 100,000 and 250,000 American lives by eliminating the need to invade the main islands of Japan.

Those keenly observant folks have, however, noticed a disturbing connection between UFOs and nuclear weapons, and that is the subject of this blog. For those who need further explanation, extraterrestrials are the "parents", Earth's human inhabitants are the "children", nuclear weapons are the "matches", and the "house" we risk burning down is planet Earth.

The next post(s) contain a list, in reverse chronological order of instances of this connection. This list is a work in progress. As I get more data I will expand and enrich it. Many of the entries in this list come from Robert Salas' excellent book: Unidentified: The UFO Phenomenon.

TERMINOLOGY:

Nuclear weapons are fission devices (atomic bombs) using U-235 or Plutonium.

Thermonuclear weapons are fusion devices (hydrogen bombs) using atomic bombs as triggers for the heavy hydrogen (deuterium and tritium) fusion part of the weapon.

Strategic nuclear weapons are large yield, over 1 megaton TNT, and are designed for use against strategic targets such as ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) complexes, large military targets, major population centers, etc.

Tactical nuclear weapons are smaller in yield, probably less than 1 megaton TNT, and designed for use on tactical targets such as bridges, dams, railroad yards, industrial complexes, defensive military bases, etc.
